ZF 6HP26 Run In and Fill Guide

ZF Run In Guide

ZF run in period is for 1500kms not using tip-tronic, with start-stop style driving under 3000RPM. It is expected that you will experience clunking with gear changes, this is a part of the run in period. Do not use boost.

Please don’t include Hi-Way driving in the run-in kilometers. 1500 kms is only an estimate and can change depending on the condition of the transmission prior to rebuilding.

Failing to follow this run in procedure correctly will result in voiding warranty.

ZF 6 and 8 Speed Oil Fill Instructions

Transmissions must be fitted and refilled by a qualified transmission/general mechanic. Failure to do so will result in warranty being voided.

  1. With the vehicle off, fill 3 liters into transmission.
  2. Start the vehicle and put it in drive with the handbrake on. Two people preferred
  3. Fill transmission until full, while cold. The transmission should take between 7 ½ and 12 liters spending on oil cooler size.

Please note: there is no need to remove the converter to ‘pre-fill’ it.
